1. What we collect

Uyoon Al Wasel collects only what is needed to connect a scanner with a vehicle owner:

  • Owner: mobile number (for OTP login and alerts), name (optional), vehicle plate, emergency contacts.
  • Scanner: no account needed to send a message. We store a random browser identifier (cookie) for rate-limiting and blocking. To make a call, the scanner verifies their mobile number by a one-time code; we keep it with the call record to connect the call, limit calls per day and let the owner block abuse. The owner only ever sees a masked number (e.g. +965 •••• ••12).
  • Photos: a scanner may attach a photo to a message (for example lights left on). Only the vehicle owner can see it, and photos are deleted automatically after 30 days.
  • Location: only when the scanner presses the SOS button, their device location is shared with the owner and their family through a private link for up to 30 minutes, and the scanner can stop it at any time. We do not track anyone's location otherwise.
  • Ownership transfer: when a vehicle is transferred, the new owner does not receive the previous owner's medical info, quiet hours, blocks or scan history.

2. How we use it

  • Deliver alerts and OTP codes via SMS or WhatsApp.
  • Show the owner who scanned their tag (reason and message only, never identity).
  • Rate-limit and block abusive scanners.

3. What we never do

  • We never share the owner's phone number with the scanner, or vice versa.
  • We never sell or share personal data with third parties for marketing.
  • We never track the owner's or scanner's location in the background.

4. Data storage

Data is stored on encrypted servers (Neon/Vercel). IP addresses are hashed before storage and cannot be reversed.

5. Your rights

You may request deletion of your account and all associated data by contacting us. Emergency contacts can ask to be removed at any time.

6. Third-party services

We use messaging providers (such as Twilio) to deliver SMS and WhatsApp messages. These providers process your phone number solely to deliver the message.

7. Changes

We may update this policy. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated policy.
